In Detroit Lakes, they happen to be giant wooden trolls with expressive faces and a better sense of purpose than most people I know. I saw this trail, Alexas Elixir, in TIMEs list of 50 places to visit in 2025 and decided to check it out. Danish artist Thomas Dambo, eco-activist, created these trolls with help from hundreds of volunteers. All from recycled materials. The final task of the forest quest Dont buy anything new today. Erwin Heerich Upon the suggestion of the founder of Stiftung Insel Hombroich, the sculptor and draughtsman Erwin Heerich (19222004) translated his terse geometric sculptural and drawn works into the architectural plane. Ten walk-in sculptures came about as museum buildings for Museum Insel Hombroich, with an exterior of reclaimed hand-made, fired Dutch brick. The upper part of the Tadeusz Pavilion, named after the painter Norbert Tadeusz, houses my favorite room which is usually kept empty as its perfect in itself. Emptiness fills the space while the space is empty. For more than thirty years a unique cultural location of international significance has been evolving between Dsseldorf and Cologne, near the city of Neuss. Hombroich is a museum, an artists workplace and a landscape, a place for architecture and for events in art, literature, philosophy and music all in one. The Museum Insel Hombroich was opened in 1987 as a realisation of the collector Karl-Heinrich Mllers concept of art in parallel to nature in an ideal museum and landscape space. The pavilions house his significant collection of art and artefacts spanning two thousand years, with the emphasis on the Modern period. To me personnaly The Tadeusz Pavilion encompasses everything architecture should be.

Love this Glasgow Style coat of arms of Glasgow on 79 West Regent Street. Created in 1903, when James Salmon Junior redesigned this building in an Art Nouveau style, it's made from beaten copper and it thought to be by Albert Hodge.

Ushabtis were ancient Egyptian funerary figurines that were placed in tombs among the grave goods. Ushabtis were meant as servants for the deceased, to do manual labor in the afterlife. Inscriptions on their bodies asserted the ushabtis' readiness to answer the gods' summons to work.

"The Last Survivors" 2024, by Sara Holmes of willowtwisters - stainless steel and willow sculptures on the theme of land and freedom. These figures are inspired by the women called gleaners who in previous centuries picked up the remains of the harvest that was left in the fields. Currently installed at the National Trust site at Runnymede, Surrey, England. August 2025.
