Chillidas sculptures, Comb of the Wind, situated right at the edge of the sea on the outskirts of San Sebastin in the Basque Country, Spain.

He created them in 1976.

I first saw photos of them around 20 years ago but this is the first time Ive had a chance to see them for real.

Some art disappoints but these didnt.

I love these Caryatids holding up an oriel window on the West George Street facade of the Merchants' House in central Glasgow. They just look so much more relaxed than most similar sculptures.

If you're interested in art, a fascinating video about art in the cave at La Roche Cotard. An amazing story, an amazing discovery.

Irritating that the modern mind is so friggin' patronizing about the Neanderthal mind.
And I just love the thought that families were living, eating, sleeping, playing with their kids, cuddling, in this cave. And Mama wanted some art on the walls.

"Torso" Closeups

Here are some closeups of the sculpture. My work is not about "perfection" but about working out the individuality of the tree and it's features.
The "arms" are overgrown stumps, there are cracks and on top you can see where the tree was cut.

My motto:
"Real wood from real trees for real sculptures for real people."

"Torso"

In 2023 I dedicated a whole year to get back to my roots and work with wood.
Our cottage in the woods brought me back there and also brought me the materials I needed.
After almost 30 years in the digital world, this was amazing - no undo, no AI, nothing between you and the material but a chisel...

This one is created from a young beech we had to cut from our garden.

More weird little guys in Bremen.

I don't know if this one was very confortable or not...

Thank you for this day.

Once in a while, Ill take a picture of the Bean from the side. Most people capture the front view, but the profile reveals a different perspective (literally).

Hello everyone! This is my post. I joined Mastodon in the past few days (specifically the sunny.garden server since its description sounded like a good fit) and this is also my first time using any Twitter-like social media. I'm here because I hope it will result it a better sense of community for me, as I've otherwise seemed relatively isolated on my main HTML website.

I'm a creative generalist with a very wide range of interests: , game development (), , (especially vector art, , digital , , , and particle effects), music composition, , philosophy, and ethics.

Many of my skills (the art ones especially) are kind of nascent and still in progress. I tend to spread myself thin often unfortunately and so the time flies by fast sometimes. I'm trying to broaden out and be more at ease and more creative lately though, like I've long sought to be. :blobreach:

I do already have a bunch of fun stuff on my main site though!

Anyway, thanks for reading! I hope a bright future is ahead for all of us!
