Re-rendered "The Outsider" using Blender's Cycles.
MagicaCSG has a really nice path tracing renderer, but it is very basic: no textures, no focused lights, et cetera.

Not easy to capture in a single image! A structure of untreated wood. Vertical slats suggest prison, institution, segregation. Concentric circles create a path and a space in interaction, and contain. Arched pieces over the circular path evoke church. Silver birch trees grow in the circle and between the walls. The eye is drawn upwards.
When I stood leaning with a doorpost at one shoulder and a tree trunk at the other, one was still and the other swaying. Integration is not unity.

This includes obelisk sundials which were unique to Scotland. Like this newer one, many had multiple gnomons, the official name for the bit which casts the shadow onto the dial.

And for I give you James Turrell's Deer Shelter skyscape at Park.
Built in 2006 it is now showing its age a bit, but still gives pause for thought.
There was quite a wind outside. The clouds moving swiftly across the square space in the ceiling. The bright spring sunshine casting a patch of bright light on one wall.

I love these industrious little putti, printing banknotes and minting coins, on the former Commercial Bank of Scotland building on Gordon Street in Glasgow. Designed by David Rhind and constructed in 1854, it's now occupied by a branch of the Royal Bank.
My daily escape from the gloom and UK politics photo is of a scrap metal sculpture at the restaurant stop we had lunch in yesterday.
