These two statues above the entrance

These two statues above the entrance to Distiller's House on Waterloo Street in Glasgow are clearly don't like each other very much.

This is because they're Roderick Dhu (left) and James Fitz-James (right), mortal enemies who compete for the hand of Ellen Douglas in Sir Walter Scott's 1810 narrative poem the Lady of the Lake.

They feature on this building because it was constructed for Wright and Greig Ltd whose most popular product was Roderick Dhu Old Highland Whisky.

A rather regal-looking lion on the 'crown' of the Stewart Memorial Fountain in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park. The fountain was created in 1872 from a design by James Sellars with sculptures by the legendary John Mossman.

I really like Zachary Steinman's cube sculptures. They inspire me to augment my brick collection and give this art a try.
