Took a little stroll into abstract town last couple of days. May I present "Anyways". Its been a while and I forgot how freeing creating abstract can be!
This is some impressive work-- particularly the woven ash and copper piece by Heechan Kim and the mind-boggling precise woven fiber vessel by Jeremy Frey.

I am liking the packaged marketing words in about to go in a retail environment. I under filled this like a cheap imported beer sign so it would all fit on the little 5kv transformer I have in the bulb body. We shall see how long it lasts.
Hey I guess if it fails it will just be "hopes and dreams". I should bend one of those to have ready.

Work in process shots of a new CCCFL bulb (Cold Cathode Compact Fluorescent). A departure from my previous bulbs and more in line with my current interests, the idea of packaging people's dreams and aspirations and selling them back to them interests me.
Bent in warm white script, this will be going to the retail space of Urbanglass in downtown . Dreams facing outward, Aspirations facing the inside.

The piece belongs to a line of balanced sculptures called The Companions.
It has its own little stand to stand on. It is balanced so it stands on it's leg and requires no additional support. Infact it is not attached to the stand and can just as easily stand on your hand if picked up.
The Borrego Springs dragon sculpture was interesting and I was not aware of it. I'm passing along a link I found in case other people are curious as I was about it and other sculptures at that location.

To avoid air pockets in for the concrete difficult to reach spaces the mold has been build in two parts.
Which allows for a two stage pouring of the concrete.
At some larger surface areas the mold is purposely build up in layers which later create lines and relief in the hardened concrete.
The end result
the mold for Takamatsu I besides the main ingredient EPS-foam, small round bamboo sticks are used. The idea is that after the concrete has cured the sticks would be drilled out and leave small tunnels to run the electrical wiring through. Next time something softer, the drilling out was quit a pain.
