A surprise discovery in Tasmania of a historic sculpture may also be the countrys first example of political and quite rude protest art.
The statue, created by a convict in the 1830s, depicts what researchers say is very probably Lieutenant Governor George Arthur, the fourth governor of Van Diemens Land (as Tasmania was then known) and creator of the notorious penal settlement Port Arthur.

Constructed in Marr Burn in the grounds of Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfriesshire. When the burn is in spate it's a violent place. Not so when I visited.

The Three Graces will be taking a trip from London to the National Museum in Edinburgh soon.
Many people dont know that the V&A and the National Galleries of Scotland co-own this famous sculpture and that it rotates between the two locations every seven years.
Using textiles gathered from discount stores, resale shops, and friends, Maria A. Guzmn Capron stitches stylized figures whose bodies emerge from entangled clusters of limbs or coquettishly pose against the gallery wall.

The piece belongs to a line of balanced sculptures called The Companions.
It has its own little stand to stand on. It is balanced so it stands on it's leg and requires no additional support. Infact it is not attached to the stand and can just as easily stand on your hand if picked up.

You're not likely to find more intricate sculptures than the work of Aurl.Some progress on this little one
I wanted to challenge myself and modeled a semi-realistic demon head using purely SDF primitives in the MagicaCSG 3D editor.
The final head exists of 129 added, subtracted and blended shapes, and is rendered inside MagicaCSG as well. As a final touch, some texture was post-processed into the rendering.
