pocket croc plush handmade by me
testing a plush design concept for plushes that can sit in a front shirt pocket, this is my third and favorite one so far.
Made from entirely thrifted materials, this croc has a pipe cleaner skeleton to facilitate posing.
I want to make at least a couple more pocket toys like this before sharing the pattern, want to test how flexible the design can be.
Things are heating up for my dreams of a color furnace! My color base batch (raw glass batch without the usual decolorants) arrived and we found a time that Mike could stop by and offer his sage color melting wisdom while I have both of the workstations rented for the weekend. The furnace is getting dialed in and this will be the first time it is getting used!
I mixed the color base really well and we split it in half for two melts. I added black nickel oxide, sulfur, pine rosin, Barium Nitrate and red iron oxide to *hopefully turn my color base into a dark amber
Sunday my tube puller in Philly, (and myself) have to work- but Monday we will pull tubes out of the color furnace! Soon I will get all the glass out of the existing crucible, flush it with compatible glass, then take that out and begin charging the brown batch!
So exciting!

The bronze sculpture "Ascent" is created by Helaine Blumenfeld. It is located in the Dreijen Arboretum in Wageningen in the Netherlands. The title "Ascent" refers to an upward movement or rising. The sculpture reflects a deep human urge for growth, transformation and spiritual movement.The 1885 Spirit of Commerce and Industry by James Alexander Ewing at Paisley Road Toll in Glasgow. While this is the statue's official name, like many things in the city, it's better known by its various nicknames, like the Govan Angel (even though it's actually at Kinning Park, although it is beside Govan Road), or Mrs Ogg (as the building it stands on top of was originally the Ogg Brothers Drapery Warehouse).
