The artist Naofumi Hama takes the Japanese tradition of making paper cranes, symbols of peace and hope, to a new level with his three-dimensional paper and fabric sculptures of cranes with intricate cut-out designs, to which the artist adds things like cherry blossoms and bonsai as sculptural elements.

Just got home after a lovely 8 mile walk around Alton in Staffordshire (near Alton Towers, you could actually hear screaming from the rollercoasters!)

This is a wire sculpture of a fairy in a tree, somewhere between Oakamoor and Cotton.

Want vrijheid is wat we vaak associren met vogels. Maar wat mij fascineert is hun kwetsbaarheid. Het werk laat de toeschouwer nadenken over zijn verhouding tot de vogel en de hoe de vogel die ervaart.

The British documents the detailed steps of modern casting from clay models to the final patina.

The process involves heating bronze ingots to 1200C and pouring the liquid into shells. It represents a 21st-century evolution of the techniques used by 19th-century artist Auguste Rodin.

With the Artemis II launch last night, I thought I'd post a photo of one of Glasgow's more unusual architecturel sculptures, and the city's only sculpture of a space shuttle. Titled Space, it's one of four related panels by Brian Kelly on a 1980s housing development on Edzell Street in the west of Glasgow.

"Each for All and All for Each" inscribed on the Cowlairs Cooperative Society drinking fountain in the Springburn area of Glasgow. Originally sited on Vulcan Street, it was presented to the Glasgow Corporation in 1902 to mark the 21st anniversary of the founding of the society. The fountain was moved to its current location oustide the Springburn Shopping Centre in 1981.
