In the destructive shadow of the Gilded Age, the whims of railroad tycoons decided farmers fates. Searching for governmental and economic alternatives, socialist and anarchist labor movements galvanized many Kansans. Farmers started organizing across the state and built a grassroots movement that became the Populist Party. The Populist Party held revival-like rallies attracting thousands of people in attendance. Mary Elizabeth Lease was an architect and lead orator of the party. Often called the Peoples Joan of Arc, Lease fought at the intersections of racial, gender, and economic liberation. In her time she gave over 160 speeches across Kansas, bridging the gaps between industrial union activities and the growing labor movement of farmers across the Midwest.
"Raise Less Corn and More Hell" is a quote credited to her. When asked about the quote, she suggested she didnt believe she had said it but found it to be a good piece of advice, so she claimed it.

built a wooden fence with handsplitted larch wood. added this two wooden sculptures. shaped by nature, hollowed out with a steel brush, pointed with an axe.

Deuxime bilan (artistique) rapide pour cette semaine qui suivi celle d'une incroyable vague de nouveaux arrivants (depuis le temps que nous les attendions ) :
- un bon nombre de musiciens & compositeurs arrivent encore
- les potes & crivains sont majoritairement l
- les peintres, sculpteurs et artistes numriques ne sont pas encore trs nombreux
- l' est toujours presque inexistant, la aussi

Quand le monde devient trop anxiogne, trouver un refuge dans l'art !

this piece uses small found objects to speak on lasting trauma and ptsd, and how that can affect ones daily life. although i dont usually dabble in sculptural work, i was quite fond of this piece.

HELLSCAPE

Caesers Fountain (Caesarova kana) and Olomouc Town Hall, Olomouc, Czechia

Just to finish off today, this is my favourite statue of Robert Burns, who was born 266 years ago today. It was created by F.W. Pomeroy and was erected in Paisley's Fountain Gardens in 1896. I much prefer its naturalistic, dymanic pose to the more classical, and static, stance of the one in Glasgow's George Square.
