Something a little more morbid but non the less fascinating. The idea of creating these "scientific biological specimens" aestheatics is interesting. not a cut of tea for everyone but a little niche thing for some.

J'avais pas le temps de commencer je sculpture plus longue. Quand j'ai regard mon nouveau stock, j'ai vu a... je me suis dit que c'tait un signe !
J'aime a faire des coeurs et les projeter en grand avec un lampion...
Je n'aurai pas le temps d'aller l'atelier pour 2 semaines...

'Vier'Another source (a Glasgow Geologocal Society publication I can no longer find) suggests it originally came from the house of Lord Kelvin's father, who became the Professor of Mathematics at the university in 1832. Given that he died in 1849, and the second observatory was also built in the 1840s, it is possible that both are true, but I can find no other sources which support, or refute, this claim.
However, the first record of this particular sculpture seems to be from the 1850s at the second observatory on Horselethill in the Dowanhill area of Glasgow.
This observatory was sold in the 1930s, and the current Notre Dame High School was built on the site in the post-war years. It was presumably at this point that the sculpture was removed and included in the wall of the Kelvin Building, which was constructed around the same time.

An Ouroboros, an ancient symbol of eternity consisting of a snake eating its own tail, surrounding a triangle enclosing a six-pointed star on Glasgow University's Kelvin Building, which was built in 1954 and named in honour of Lord Kelvin.
The symbol is used for as the emblem of the Astromony and Astrophysics group in the university's School of Physics and Astronomy, and may date back to the creation of University's first observatory in 1757.

: Bei der Aufstellung 1953 gab es Kritik, weil die Tiere dem Rathaus gewissermaen den Rcken zukehren manche fanden das taktlos. Man entschied sich aber, sie nicht umzudrehen, denn dann wrden sie ja in die Ruberhhle (also ins Rathaus) schauen.
