In 2002, I made this assemblage sculpture. This fly is make from hubcap parts, clothes hangers, rear truck headlights, plexiglass sheets and the top part of a door for the background.

The Ploughboy of the Western World: F.W. Pomeroy's beautiful 1895 sculpture of Robert Burns in Fountain Gardens in Paisley. Pomeroy was a leading member of the New Sculpture Movement of the late 1800s, which aimed to portray figures in a more naturalistic way, in contrast to the prevailing neoclassical way. This, I think, is a fine example of this approach to sculpture.

This was a big fella to make.
After having some leaking problems with the resin... which took about four attempts to seal properly, I could finally have the sea filled up. Some blue pigment for a deeper effect and voila!
It has a full sea landscape around and some sea life with lights intergrated.

I learned about this from a post by James Brooks and boosted by
HeyBeth AKOKjourna.host that contained a photo of Tahku. I had never seen this before and thought I'd look it up and decided to pass this additional information along.
"Tahku, the Alaska Whale Sculpture, is a life-scale bronze whale sculpture of a breaching humpback rising amidst waterworks from an infinity pool located on the waterfront of Alaskas capital city, Juneau a destination for over 1 million visitors each year from around the world. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of Alaska Statehood, and serves as the northern anchor for the downtown Juneau waterfront.
Takhu the Whale was sculpted by former Juneau resident R.T. Wallen for the people of Alaska."

Final image alt text: This photo looks up into the canopy of some very tall & slender conifers. The trunks are very straight and have no lower branches they are all clumped together right at the top of the tree. Behind the trees is blue sky with some white wispy clouds.
Simone Leigh Hirshhorn Museum, DC. Will post more images later. Really impressive show that feels like a retrospective but most work is recent, including those from the recent Venice Biennale. Avoid the crowds if you can because the scale of the most pieces make you want to move around freely.
