One of the main reasons to come down to Historic Dockyard today was to see all the lions together. They're been in locations around the city for the last couple of months, all decorated by artists and sponsored by businesses.
The statue of William Thomson, better known as Lord Kelvin, one of the greatest scientists of his age, in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow. Sculpted by Archibald Macfarlane Shannan, it was unveiled in 1913. Lord Kelvin was also both the youngest (aged 10) and the oldest (aged 75) student to matriculate at Glasgow University. Between these two ages, he also serves as the university's Professor of Natural Philosophy for 53 years.
