I printed this 'The Thinker' scan with tree supports on and frankly, I think it came out saying something about our modern world too.
I think I might leave the supports on and put it up on the shelf.

Excited that the oven pump went well this morning. I was so close to just making lunch and bending the ruby version, but instead I went to meet up with some friends from back in town.
I tried uploading the video here but its too big, so here it is on my makertube and a photo of it first lit in the kiln as a teaser.
I sure am excited to make the ruby red one :)

In the year 2000 I visited the Picasso Museum in Paris, and photographed an intriguing abstract portrait by the maestro.
I imagined that Picasso wasn't an abstract painter at all, but searched for odd figures in shady alleys, then realistically painted them in dusty hotel rooms, and left them.
So I turned that idea into one of my earliest 3D works, and called it Abandoned by Picasso.

Pretty excited to be moving along with this idea I have had for awhile. Since making crackle tubes for the first time, I was wanting to make a word or phrase in crackle, as the lightning effect just looks so evil. I couldn't think of the right word, but have been feeling for the past half year or so, pretty confident I found it.
WIIFM is an acronym, apparently coming from the corporate insurance sales world. The saying goes- "always tune your customers in to Whats In It For Me". That WIIFM thinking could be applied to a lot of things. Certainly as an artist I have to ask myself the question sometimes with some of the distracting and fruitless projects I take on. Applying it to everything just feels wrong... and evil.
I was wondering if I could get the crushed glass bits past all those bends- turns out if bent perfectly- it IS possible! Currently in the oven to bake an suck out overnight! Tomorrow morning neon fill! I'm pumped!
Coil connects us to thousands of years of human creativity. This V&A tutorial by Charlie Brookes shows how to build pots using the same layering and scoring techniques practiced from ancient to cultures.
