I'm reposting everything from my old Instagram, to keep my archive and have a record of my work's development. I'm adding commentary below the original text.
This is from 13 december 2017:
"Inocybe betula", Black and white silicone mushroom on birchwood, white and grey moss.
Soft blueish white light, best enjoyed as a night light or in low to no light.
I liked this piece the most out of this series of three, mainly because of the branch. Every piece of wood Ive ever used, Ive heat-treated in my oven by baking it for half an hour to an hour. You can see that it has scorched the wood a bit, but at least this way, I was sure there would be no nasty surprises later onno wood-eating bugs!
Ive always tended to be on the overly cautious side, which is one of my bigger struggles. No matter how much I work on preventing disappointment and improving quality, every LED will eventually dieeven the ones in my sculptures. I dont really like it, but Ive since accepted it as an inevitable part of life. Everything has its end.
The funny part is that I never blame anyone else when things Ive bought break. I accept that as a normal thingnothing lasts forever. But for my sculptures, apparently, they should last forever!

A rather wonderful bust of Mercury on the Anchor Line Building on Saint Vincent Place in Glasgow. Like the rest of the facade, it's made of a marble-like ceramic called Faience. Amongst other things, Mercury was the Roman god of commerce and travellers, which may explain why he appears twice on a building constructed for a Edwardian shipping line.

This is Steve he is a deathclaw from the Fallout video games. He is life-size to the 10ft tall monsters in the game. He took me I think 2 months to make just by working on him in my free time after work. The eyes are hand painted glass and the teeth are translucent clay with washes of yellow and brown on top. He was made using a cardbord skeleton topped with balled up newspaper and tape to build out the shape. On top of that I added paper mache. Paper mache clay was added on top of the regular paper mache to shape wrinkles and texture, it also made everything much stronger. The paper mache recipe was made by Jonni Good www.ultimatepapermache.com she has so many helpful YouTube videos if you're ever interested in trying out a paper mache craft I highly recommend checking her out. Steve weighs 11.4 lbs and he is almost 2 ft from neck to Horn and over 2 ft across the top of the horns.

I am fascinated that the artist who created this sculpture of a horse obviously needed to make it a male horse. Perhaps this is because the sculpture relates to a story or myth.

This panel is on the Robert Burns statue in George Square in central Glasgow, and was created by James Alexander Ewing in the 1880s.

A sculpted bronze panel of Alloway Kirk scene from Robert Burns' 1791 narrative poem Tam o' Shanter, where he first lays eyes on the young witch he nicknames Cutty Sark (after the revealling gown she's wearing). Entranced by her salacious dancing, Tam calls out, revealling his presence to the assembled witches, and causing him to have to flee for his life.
