They represent key Reformation figures, including Knox, Calvin, Wycliffe, Erasmus and Luther. Six of them were saved when the church was demolished in 1997, but were damaged in the process.

Love this Art Deco style sculpture of the burning bush on A. Gardiner's 1930s Saint David's Church in the Knightswood area of Glasgow. The lettering around the edge translates as 'And it was not consumed', the motto of the Church of Scotland.

The Scale: At Snape Maltings, these figures stand like sentinels. Framing the flat, expansive Suffolk landscape through them highlights the contrast between the solid bronze and the airy, open marshland.
The Pierced Form: Hepworth was one of the first sculptors to "hole" her work. She wanted people to look through the art to the world behind it, effectively making the landscape part of the sculpture itself.
The Texture: The rough, tactile surface in the foreground is meant to mimic natural stone and organic weathering, bridging the gap between man-made art and the wild reeds of the River Alde.
