Good morning, Glasgow. It's a clear, but chilly start to the day, but the rather spectacular sunrise made getting up and about early well worth the effort.

Q&A: This Waterloo snow sculptor explains how he makes his snow art
Matthew Morris caught attention in August for his lightweight canoe, but he's more known as the Waterloo snow sculptor extraordinaire who makes snow art in front of his Waterloo home. Morris joined The Morning Edition guest host Joe Pavia to talk about this passion for making art with snow.

London is the capital and largest city of both England and the United Kingdom, with a population of 9.1 million people in 2024. Its wider metropolitan area is the largest in Western Europe, with a population of 15.1 million. London stands on the River Thames in southeast England, at the head of a 50-mile (80 km) tidal estuary down to the North Sea, and has been a major settlement for nearly 2,000 years. Its ancient core and financial centre, the City of London, was founded by the Romans as Londinium and has retained its medieval boundaries. The City of Westminster, to the west of the City of London, has been the centuries-long host of the national government and parliament. London grew rapidly in the 19th century, becoming the world's largest city at the time. Since the 19th century the name "London" has referred to the metropolis around the City of London, historically split between the counties of Middlesex, Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire, which since 1965 has largely comprised the administrative area of Greater London, governed by 33 local authorities and the Greater London Authority.

We made snow gnomes! It was a lot easier than I would have imagined.
There is a community snow sculptor named Matt Morris who has a website with amazing photos of his sculptures (I particularly like "two feet of snow"), as well as instructions on how to prepare the snow and how to make a snow gnome yourself. Check it out:

Sun Spot by Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan, located appropriately enough outside the Denver Animal Shelter. The piece is made of over 90 thousand blank dog tags hanging on a wire frame. Triton for . He's part of the fountain in Altona. The massive fountain (7.5 metres (25 ft) tall) was inaugurated in 1900 and depicts two centaurs battling for a fish, surrounded by sea creatures splashing water at them (with Triton among them). The centaurs are said to represent and , symbolising their rivalry for dominance in the fishing industry. Altona was once the German (and even European) "fishing capital" in the early 20th century and often clashed with neighbouring Hamburg. Imagine the horror of the people of Altona when their independent borough was absorbed into Hamburg in 1938 without prior notice!Favorite 2025 !
