I love the grand entrances you get on Glasgow's late Victorian and Edwardian commercial buildings. This one on Fyfe Chambers on West George Street is a particularly fine example.

There was underground, a group that took me in. They believed the only chance of survival was to alter the origin of the problem. This was their first successful experiment. It allowed the user to focus their consciousness and alter the wave function. It was, as all their successive models, one way.

Variation on the theme not as pure, but perhaps more thought-provoking: The cube contains $900,000 in dollar bills, and $100,000 worth of gold in the form of a solid ingot placed in one lower corner of the cube.

The discussion now extends to the relationship between the value of fiat currency versus the value of a rare precious metal, and how the inclusion of something that people have traditionally viewed as having inherent value changes the perception of the piece, and how the pieces value is expected to change over time.

idea for a big name artist, titled WORTH LESS:

A cube containing one million crisp, new US dollar bils, encased in a thick box made of bulletproof, airtight glass, mounted on a granite slab, sealed such that the notes are kept in prisitine condition in perpetuity (such a cube will measure about 40 on each side a faux example exists in the US treasury).

The piece will be sold at cost: $1M plus parts and labor receipts provided. The conceit of the piece is that the money encased in the box will be worth less over time because of inflation. Whoever buys the piece also has taken one million dollars of their wealth and caused it to sit in a box for display instead of investing it, so the piece represents the opportunity cost of buying an art piece.

We assume the piece itself will appreciate in value, and may be traded in the future for more money than it contains, sparking discussion about what it is that art buyers pay for, money laundering in art, and whether art has inherent value.

Love this stern-looking Green Man on a corbel above the door of the former Sun Life building on the corner of West George Street and Renfield Street in central Glasgow. It was constructed in the 1890s and the sculptures were by William Birnie Rhind.

The unique Buddhist temple Otagi Nembutsuji () deep in a canyon in northwest Arashiyama in Kyto has had a long and complicated history, but its distinctiveness today stems from the 20th Century when a head priest commissioned the carving of over a thousand stone rakan (, based on arhats, adept disciples of the Buddha). Each statue is unique, unlike the stereotype of Asians, and some are really funny. The moss in this shady side of the mountain also adds to their character, sometimes like hair.

Love this pediment, topped with a sculpted and painted fruit basket, above the entrance to the former fruit market on Candleriggs in the Merchant City area of Glasgow.

Inclusion 2024

I wonder what these two have been talking about for the last 150 years These heads are on neighbouring door surrounds on 1870s townhouses on Westbourne Gardens in Glasgow. It's unusual that they're looking away from their own doors rather than towards them.
