It's great that this coat of arms has been preserved, but it's in a rather odd position at the base of a side wall where it's easily missed and it could have been placed in a much more prominent location.

A rather wonderful Glasgow Coat of Arms embedded in the wall of new flats built on the site of the 1920s Whiteinch Public Baths building.

The Art Deco style font used for the city's motto at the bottom is just so elegant, and I love the animal heads on either side, which I think are either seals or otters.

One of the sculptures making up the Raices Fountain at the end of Paseo de La Princesa (promenade of the princess) in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It commemorates the African, Spanish, and Indigenous populations of Puerto Rico. The second photo is of the entire fountain, which was completed in 1992.

Sculptor Richard Hunt, who died last December, had a career that spanned roughly 70 years, with his work appearing in museums and public spaces across the country, and was the first African American sculptor to have a retrospective at MOMA. Block Club Chicago's Rachel Hinton talked to artists who were inspired by his extraordinary life and work. "I would walk past his monuments every day its kind of like the pinnacle of what I wanted to be, sculptor Faheem Majeed says. Richard is who I wanted to be at a certain point in my life before I even met him.

An intermediate "clay" rendering of my Red Riding Hood scene in progress.

Love to develop a scene in a spontaneous manner, without prior planning or sketches. It's like a voyage of visual style discovery.

For the art and archaeology lovers...

Wishing a happy birthday to American sculptor Augusta Savage, born February 29th, 1892 in Greenspring Florida! Of course, Floridians are not to know this. A towering figure of the Harlem Renaissance, it's about time we do what we can to bring her work back to attention.
Happy Leap Year to everyone, especially those born in between.

Wolf scene update. I bet you can't guess which fairy-tale this will reflect!

I made the wolf's body edgy, to further stylize him, and make him less cuddly. I still need to add more legs.

More updates will follow.

Burnie locals spitting chips over proposed $1.25 million 'French fry' sculpture
By Bec Pridham

The 'Welcome Gesture' sculpture, a project to "improve the gateway to the city" of Burnie, will cost $1.25 million with some saying the planned row of "French fries" will be little more than an advert for the fast food restaurant nearby.

More than 100 Jeff Koons sculptures are still aboard the Nova C (Odysseus) lunar lander, which is likely to soon lose power and communication with flight control engineers.

Wolf progress. Only one leg at the moment, need to determine how to place the other legs without disturbing the silhouette too much.

Work continues tomorrow. It's time to loaf around Mastodon again now.

I'm not sure why exactly, but this piece of art kinda resonated with me immediately. Even though it was out of reach, behind the physical bars, somewhere by the way in .
