Article in NYT about a New Zealand stone sculptor. Great work and with insights into Mori-Pakeha relations.: Ive got a lot of respect for him and how he goes down the right avenues to source New Zealand stone, he added. Yes, hes Pakeha, but he understands the tikanga about connecting to the stone, Mr. Gardiner said, referring to Mori cultural lore, and asking the tangata whenua for permission to use it.

Originally commissioned by South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council, this bronze sculpture by Irene Brown represents a figure guiding ships safely into the River Tyne with one arm whilst raising her other arm in greeting.
The 'Spirit of South Tyneside' is regarded as the protector helping a ship through the seas safely to harbour.
It was completed as part of a project called 'Art on the Riverside'.

The centaur sculpture in the gardens of Chteau de Saint-Cloud, crafted by Furne Fils & H. Tournier, embodies the elegance of nature and myth. How does this fusion of human and beast reshape our understanding of identity in art

Sculpture by NY-based artist Oren Pinhassi, 2020s, whose vertical works are inspired by both organic and architectural structures, and typically made of sand, plaster, and burlap.

Sculpture by Asmundur Sveinsson at the Asmundursafn sculpture garden in Reykjavik.

When this building was demolished in 1985, as part of the redevelopment of the Saint George's Cross area, the statue was carefully dismantled into 12 separate pieces and re-assembled as a free-standing sculpture at street level. While it has recently been cleaned, one of the horse's reins remains detached and the knight's lance is missing. However, it's still a rather wonderful sculpture.

Saint George and the Dragon at Saint George's Cross in Glasgow. Carved by Charles Grassby for J. and G. Mossman, it was made in 1897 as a rooftop feature for the Cooperative Wholesale Society building at the junction of Saint George's Road and Gladstone Road.

I made a Bluecifer horse yesterday. Now I am looking for more iconic horses to bend- feel free to suggest any.

Bluecifer, is a famous horse sculpture outside the Denver Airport. The towering blue horse has menacing red eyes that glow at night. The horse killed the artist that created it, and has been cited in some of the conspiracy theories around the airport.

My Bluecifer is just 6 inches (15cm) tall, so he is just a lil' Bluecifer Baby. He emits a deep blue light that makes blacklight responsive things glow. Argon mercury so he is nice an bright :)

I also made a tutorial video on how I created the Bluecifer pattern using Inkscape. Should be useful for others who want to make digital neon patterns- they sure are handy.

I promise I will get bored of bending ponies in a few months or so.... till then, the herd will keep growing :)

I am a fan of Antony Gormley. This piece is called 'Transport', and it was installed, as a temporary exhibit, in Canterbury Cathedral in 2010, but it's still there now. It was made from 210 black nails, left over from the refurbishment of the cathedral roof, and hangs, suspended, midway between Thomas Becket's original tomb in the crypt, from 1170, and his shrine in the Trinity Chapel, above, built in 1220.
