Ce matin je vous prsente un petit projet que j'ai fait pour l'exposition 'Artiste de coeur' pour venir en aide aux maisons d'hbergements pour femmes l'an dernier. La difficult avec ce symposium est qu'ils dterminent d'avance le montant et le format des sculptures. Pour moi c'est difficile de ne pas dpasser 15" de haut pour 170$. Dans mon art, plus c'est petit plus c'est dur.

A massive hand reaches dramatically towards the cloudy sky. It is the outstretched right arm of a screaming giant emerging from the ground in a park in Viterbo Italy. This is Il Risveglio (The Awakening), a fiberglass version of a sculpture created by John Seward Johnson II in 1980.

Finalement, l'chafaudage autour de la statue de Leifur Eriksson n'aura pas tenu longtemps. J'ai fait le tour et ... Moui, bon, ils ont fait un petit savonnage du bazar mais rien de sensationnel.

Ct mto, aaaah, le beau temps revient doucement ! Et j'espre qu'il sera de la partie car on va entrer lundi dans une des meilleures semaines de ce dbut d'anne : en Islande, les jeudi saint, vendredi saint et lundi de pques sont fris ! :hakase:

Martie van de Loo created the sculptures for the Varkenssluis and the Paulusbroedersluis, two bridges crossing the Oudezijds Voorburgwal and Achterburgwal. The legless figures represent pedestrians walking between Dam Square and Nieuwmarkt. Their Eastern features are a nod to the nearby Chinatown.
The original sculptures (placed in 84) were damaged by vandalismsome were knocked over, others beheaded. Van de Loo later made stronger versions with granite arms. The design is inspired by the Amsterdam School architectural style.
