We made this intricate keepsake by hand-tracing historic meander maps of the Mississippi River in pencil on vellum, then interweaving each individual river course through a painstaking digital modeling process.
Our Tealight features seven ancient routes the river has taken across the same terrain over the course of centuries.
The result is a storied heirloom constructed in solid .925 sterling silver (not silver-plated, not hollow), created to cast intricate shadows that echo the wandering paths of ancient rivers. Oui, cest bien Mr Bean, fig en bronze sur un banc Leicester Square, Londres
Costume cravat, jambes croises, mains poses bien comme il faut : il a lair parfaitement sage ce qui, connaissant le personnage, est presque inquitant.
On sattend tout moment ce quune mouette, une voiture ou une ide absurde vienne perturber la scne.
Une statue son image : silencieuse, mais dj drle.

Murals and More

Outside the store in Nanaimo are several murals and a few sculptures that all reflect a nautical theme and are a lot of fun. The images of pirates are now a little faded but still impressive in their artistry, and I got a chuckle when I was surprised by seeing one of the pirates in a boat. In addition to the pirate theme there is one mural of an Orca which appears to have been created by an indigenous artist.

I have not yet been able to identify the creators responsible for any of these works, despite having spent some time online trying to track them down. If any readers are able to give me that information I will be happy to give the artists the credit they deserve.

Update 13 Dec 2025: I have just returned to the store to tell them that I have put photos of their murals etc. on my website. I also asked the woman at the front desk if she knew the names of the artists and she told me that they murals were older than she was. She remembered seeing them when she was an infant. I left her with my contact information and asked her to check with other members of staff to see if they could identify the artists.

Hier, ayant vu passer une photo de la rserve des moules d'une faencerie, je suis retourn voir mes photos des archives poussireuses, captes trs rapidement lors d'une visite du grenier de la faencerie , accessibles lors d'une journe du patrimoine en 2012.
Pour les plus tout jeunes, peut-tre que cette uvre de Bel Delecourt, "maternit" cre en 1955 et fabrique ici, vous dit quelque chose on la voyait souvent dans les vitrines des pharmacies pour vanter le lait Nestl
En plus des modles, il y avait aussi les moules, bien sr.

How did Victoria & Albert Museum get its Rodin collection It was his gift to them.

The V&A Rodin collection includes a number of busts, which Rodin would first model in clay, and then cast in bronze (below). One bust is of Honor de Balzac.

Balzac wrote a very popular series, La Comdie Humaine, a few decades after the French revolution. He drew inspiration from French commoners, and included a range of masculine and effeminate male characters, some "gay"such as the manly and heroic master criminal, Vautrin. The hero had a caring relationship with a male lover for whom he sacrificed his freedomtaking his place in prison.

Balzac was the first in western literature to describe homosexuality as an IDENTITY rather than a sexual BEHAVIOUR. Publishing their stories in literature was possible because post-revolution France had decriminalised victimless crimes, which included consenting sexual relations.
