Sculpture Showcase

"Nightcap" by Marjolijn Mandersloot, 2024

Simone Leigh. from Sovereignty, her 2022 Biennale USA entry.

There's a ton of writing on Leigh's work, but you just have to see it in person - in a room, with that straw and puka-shell massive work facing it, for example. Just get up close. She's unspeakably brilliant, subtle, so incisive without any words at all. Every part of this piece moves me, from scale to glaze to form and references, to what is omitted. This to me is sculpture at its absolute best.

I sculpted this rounded blue octopus figurine using polymer clay and cocktail sticks/toothpicks and a craft knife. I originally posted it to Instagram on the 30th April 2016 and I've added watermarks where previously there weren't any.

Excuse me. This noble fellow, this exquisite masterpiece is titled Honk and Bonk.

Tintin is now in the public domain. I made this minimalistic voxel-style tribute somewhere around 2010 or so.

Checked out the fourth Bertil Herlow Svensson that was commissioned for Fiskstra 1970 but which as only recently been put on display here.

I'm sure moai are meant to last a long time, not sure this one will as it definitely looks craggier since the last time I photographed it.

Ah, it was vandalised back in 2015, no wonder. Glad to see it still there.

It's an enTIREly new year, and I love art installations for the public to enjoy. This was one of my favorites last year. Installed on Park Avenue in the 80s, the sculptures are by Betsabee Romero, a Mexican visual artist. She carved pre-Hispanic iconography into tractor tires. The works are meant to highlight the importance of migrants from Central and South America to US society

Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to walk through the inside of knitting like these tunnels "The Common Thread" exhibit created knit passageways for the Bruges Triennial. I'm sure it was machine knit but still I'd love to walk there. Heck, I'd live in it. Read the article and see more pictures

In case you're tired of my chitchat over here, but you do like my artwork just enough to keep following me, there's a solution

I've got a separate account at Pixelfed, where I only post my artwork:

I said I was going to get this sculpture done before the new year, and dang is it close.

The main character for my game has some minor sculpting adjustments to be made, then it is on to retopology where I'll also add nails and the inner mouth.

When I first heared "The Burghers of Calais" I was thinking French Food Truck, but instead it was the awesome work of Auguste Rodin, You can feel their despair Stanford Campus, Palo Alto, California
