I love the sculptures above the doors of Glasgow's traditional commercial buildings, and this one is a particular favourite. It's on Ocean Chambers at 190 West George Street, which was built in 1899 for the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation, and it features the city's only known pair of walruses (although it is debatable as to whether the sculptor had ever actually seen a walrus in real life before sculpting it!).

It has its own little stand to stand on. It is balanced so it stands on it's leg and requires no additional support. Infact it is not attached to the stand and can just as easily stand on your hand if picked up.

I think I'm right in saying that her works are popular with the wider public in the UK and beyond. Perhaps viewers recognize that her unification ofthe vaguely biomorphic shape with the unambiguously modern is so appropriate for our era.
I'm sorry to say that I have not actually seen this 1951-1952 work, "Image". Is it in Tate Modern at London or at St Ives
