Good morning. The lower section of a Male Welcome Pole, featuring a beaver, carved by Willian Dan and William Dan Jr. The beaver is a builder of Lodges that provides food storage and shelter to a large family. The partial quote is taken from the ceremonial plaque.

Lartiste transforme citrons, cerises ou pastques en sculptures couvertes de pierres semi-prcieuses, o la moisissure prend des airs de joaillerie. Cest beau, brillant, un peu drangeant et franchement difficile oublier.

Love this little creature at the base of a column at 200 St Vincent Street which we encountered during this morning's walking tour looking at Glasgow's amazing and varied architectural sculptures. Thanks to everyone who came along, and it was great to meet you all.
I'll be announcing my next walking tour tomorrow, so if you're interested, keep an eye out for it.
