seapieparcel Northumberland, UK @PaulGarvey4 I'd never heard of sea fret and haar until I came to live up here. They speak of "fret and haar" and I'm still not sure I've grasped the difference. Edinburgh was fab: Impressionists; Barbara Hepworth; baroque chamber music; youth choir exuberance. All ace, especially Barbara! Composer of enthusiastic music, and all-round musical person working fairly often with primary school children, but also sometimes with grown-ups.
seapieparcel Northumberland, UK Today I went to Edinburgh and to my complete delight I saw my old pal Pierced Hemisphere by Barbara Hepworth. We spent a great deal of time together back in the day as you can read here! Thanks for a brilliant morning @NatGalleriesSco ! KildenMor Padstow, England When Yorkshire-born sculptor Barbara Nicholson moved to Cornwall in 1939, she was already one of the world’s leading Modernist artists. Her bold abstract ‘pierced figures’ were as instantly recognisable as the work of Braque, Picasso, Miró and Mondrian.
zinovievletter London Marble Arch, 2020-21: the Arch, designed by John Nash, built in 1827 and moved from Buckingham Palace in 1851; Barbara Hepworth's Winged Figure (BH 315) (1963) on the wall of John Lewis; Nic Fiddian-Green's Still Water (2011); the jaw-droppingly crape, £6m Marble Arch Mound. Of course I hate the reign of the bourgeois
The reign of cops and priests
But I hate still more the man who does not hate it

hrshtein “Before I start carving the idea must be almost complete. I say ‘almost’ because the really important thing seems to be the sculptors ability to let his intuition guide him over the gap between conception and realization without compromising the original idea.”
